On October 31, 2025, the TECHBITE Energy Demo Day, hosted by Bangchak Group & KX, successfully brought together industry leaders, investors, and innovators at the True Digital Park to shape the future of #EnergyInnovation and #Sustainability.
The event featured an interactive Exhibition & Activity zone where attendees explored and engaged with cutting-edge #DeepTechStartups and #GreenTechnology solutions.
Keynote Session: Energy X Sustainability by Bangchak Group
Ms. Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Communications at Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, delivered the keynote address. She emphasized that in this new era, energy must drive both economic value and social meaning.
- The Energy Trilemma: Businesses face three simultaneous challenges: Energy Security, Energy Affordability, and Environmental Sustainability.
- Net Zero Strategy: Bangchak is transforming from a small refinery to a regional energy leader, targeting Net Zero by 2050. The strategy is built on the “Renovate to Regenerate” DNA, focusing on Regenerative Power, Regenerative Innovation (e.g., pioneering SAF from used cooking oil), and Regenerative Life (e.g., supporting seagrass research for carbon sequestration).
- Critical Challenge: The transition is hampered by challenges in technology costs, the need for massive infrastructure investment (like CCUS and grid upgrades), and the lack of consistent policies and funding for SMEs.
- Key Takeaway: “Climate Strategy is Business Strategy”.
Roundtable Panel Discussion: Opportunities for Investment in Energy Businesses
The panel, moderated by Dr. Panit Kitsubarn (IBIG EECi) , featured top executives from Bangchak, KX, Beacon VC, Banpu, and Innopower.
- Energy Demand: Mrs. Narupan Suthamkasem (Bangchak) highlighted that global energy demand is still increasing and will remain high for the next 20–26 years. Despite the #EnergyTransition, the required growth in #RenewableEnergy is 17 times the current projection, necessitating massive investment in infrastructure and technology. Bangchak is focused on #AlternativeEnergy (liquid form like SAF and B24) and #EnergyEfficiencyvia Digital Transformation.
- The Role of Education: Dr. Patrachart Komolkiti (KX Knowledge Xchange) stressed that academic institutions must develop technology that addresses national needs, not just focus on human resources. KX acts as a “bridge” to connect researchers with the business world, facilitating the Quadruple Helix collaboration.
- Investor’s View (VC & CVC): Mr. Thanapong Na Ranong (Beacon VC) noted that AI is becoming a new utility, driving huge demand for Data Centers which need #CleanEnergy. #DeepTech investment requires a longer-term focus, favoring an Ecosystem model where Corporate VCs (CVCs) provide problem statements and scale. Key metrics for #VCFunding remain CAC and LTV. Mr. Petch Wannissorn (Banpu Next) explained that as a CVC, Banpu seeks both Financial Return and Strategic Return (collaboration). Startups are seen as an “army” to accelerate #Cleantech adoption in Thailand and ASEAN.
- The New Problem: Mr. Chayoot Chatunawarat (Innopower) stated that the chosen path of #Cleantech creates new problems, such as grid disruption from uncontrolled solar and EVs. This complexity drives the need for Digital Energy management using AI.
- Government Role: The public sector must create a regulatory space, like a Regulatory Sandbox, and improve Data access for startups, balancing innovation with Energy Security.
Pitching Session: 10 Energy Startups
The event concluded with a pitching session featuring 10 leading #EnergyStartup teams, showcasing innovation that accelerates the #EnergyTransition:
- AIRIONIX: Provides air ionization sheets that improve combustion efficiency and reduce fuel use by over 10%.
- ECOCREW: Offers a smart reusable cup and container system with automatic return stations to cut single-use plastic.
- EMERALD PLAST: Produces biodegradable bioplastic made from Thai agricultural materials, replacing single-use plastics.
- MAC Oxidizing (Marvel Advance Corporation): Features a gas treatment system that eliminates pollutants and greenhouse gases toward net-zero emissions.
- NORVIQUE: Developed a platform for used-oil collection route planning, integrated with carbon footprint tracking.
- REWASTEC: Focuses on recycling plastic and agricultural waste into reusable pellets and synthetic rattan.
- RIFFAI: Utilizes AI-powered satellite image analysis to identify clean energy sites faster and cheaper.
- THE TRUCKERS: Offers a B2B cargo platform connecting truck owners with shippers, integrated with carbon tracking.
- ZEROBOARD (Thailand): A SaaS solution for GHG calculation and ESG reporting for organizations.
- ZLEEPCHARGE: Provides a smart EV charging platform enabling overnight reservations to reduce queues and carbon footprint.
